Presentation Night 2003

Another feather on the cap was bestowed to the eGenting Research & Development team as the eGenting Programming Competition 2003 it organized proved to be an even greater success after the inaugural event that was held in 2002.

This year round, there were a total of 102 participants with 12 contestants achieving the level of merit awards and above as compared to 7 out of 122 contestants in 2002. The results clearly shows that quality has improved.

The star of the night was undergraduate Chew Chee Ming from APIIT who swept the first prize along with a RM5000 cash prize, a certificate and a job offer. Coming in close at second place was UTM's undergraduate Soo Jenn Yeh winning RM2500 in cash, a certificate and a job offer. The third place went to University Malaya's undergraduate Low Sze Hau together with RM1500 cash, a certificate and a job offer as well. The objective of the competition are to promote an interest in programming among the students and expose them to the practical skills necessary to excel in the computer software development industry.

The event was graced by the Deputy Minister of Energy, Communications and Multimedia Datuk Tan Chai Ho together with Mr. Justin Tan, CEO of eGenting Holdings Sdn Bhd, Mr. Derrik Khoo, COO of eGenting Holdings Sdn Bhd and Mr. Jonathan Searcy, SVP of eGenting's R&D Department. Datuk Tan was pleased to see that eGenting is promoting computer software development through the competition and making it more lively. He looks forward to a greater participation in the next competition.
